Induction of Women in Officer Cadre:- An Important Landmark in the history of Indian Army introduce in year 1992 for Selection of Women’s in Indian Army as An Officer Cadre and the training of women officers was undertaken by the Officers Training Academy (OTA) through various women entry Schemes. These various women entry Schemes are classified into three categories named are UPSC, Non UPSC and Technical Entries. The most important think to remember is that it is compulsory for Candidates to be a Graduate to Apply for these Entries.

1. UPSC Entry OR Short Service Commission Women (Non Technical):- Interested unmarried Graduate women aged between 19 to 25 Years can be Applied for this Women Entry Scheme. Notification for SSCW (Non Technical) Entry are Published in Employment News and leading Daily News Paper by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Twice A Year and 49 weeks Training provided to selected candidates at Officers Training Academy (OTA) Chennai.
Important Dates:- SSB Date (Tentative) – Jun / July and November / December
Date Commencement of Training – October and April
How to Apply:- Eligible Candidates can Apply Online through official website of Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) as per dates given in Notification.

2. Non UPSC Entries:- The Non UPSC Entries for women are classified in two categories NCC Special Entry and JAG Entry these both entries are Short Service Commission and Duration of both entries are 49 weeks.
(i) SSCW NCC (SPL) Entry:- Any unmarried Graduate women aged between 19 to 25 years who have minimum of 50% marks in Graduation with a valid NCC ‘C’ certificate with minimum ‘B’ grade can Apply for this Entry. One another good thought is that there is no any written Examination (CEE) conducted for this entry and Candidates are shortlisted for SSB to be held twice Every years in the month of June/ July and December/ January. The Training for this entry also conducted by Officers Training Academy (OTA) Chennai.
How to Apply:- Eligible Candidates can Apply Offline as Notified in the Notification through NCC Department.
(ii) SSCW Judge Advocate General:- Any unmarried Law Graduate women aged between 21 to 27 years who have minimum of 55% marks in LLB can Apply for SSCW (JAG) Entry. One another good thought is that there is no any written Examination (CEE) conducted for this entry and Candidates are shortlisted for SSB to be held twice Every years in the month of June/ July and December/ January by Directorate General Recruiting / AG Branch. The Training for this entry also conducted by Officers Training Academy (OTA) Chennai.

3. Short Service Commission (Technical) Women:- Short Service Commission (Technical) Women OR SSCW (Tech) is a technical Entry for Engineering Graduate women’s. Any unmarried Engineering Graduate Women aged between 20 to 27 years can Apply for this Entry. There is also no any written Examination (CEE) conducted for this entry and Candidates are shortlisted for SSB to be held twice Every years by Directorate General Recruiting / AG Branch and 49 weeks Training provided to selected candidates at Officers Training Academy (OTA) Chennai.

Important Note:- There are some other Entries for women like Army Medical Corps, Army Education Corps and Military Nursing Service which Recruits Women’s on a direct entry basis depending on the availability of posts. These Entries are non-periodic. However, women’s are also commissioned into these corps once they have complete their training through one of the above entries.
